Speak Life Over People!

“You are fearfully and wonderfully made.” — Psalm 139:14 NAB

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” — Jeremiah 29:11

In today’s world, truth and kindness are out! They have been replaced with constant criticism, complaining and negative predictions. It is difficult to watch television, thumb through Facebook or X and not come away depressed. As Proverbs 18:21 tell us, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”

For each of us we can fall into the same trap or we can make the decision to speak life over people.

So, what does speak life over people mean? It involves shifting to offering grace, truth and kindness to everyone in our lives.
We can tell the people in our lives how much they mean to us and share how they bless us. We can encourage and celebrate their successes.

I find it heart -warming to tell a younger friend, relative, or associate, how proud I am of the man or woman they have become. Their usual response is “coming from you, that means a lot to me.”

Speaking life over some is a choice. Stop to think before we talk. By offering praise and hope, we can overcome negative comments the world is spewing. It’s a choice!
I’m with you. I’ve got your back. I believe in you! Don’t give up. These are a few ways to speak life over people. I’m sure you can think of many more.
Today, let’s make the conscious choice to reject the negative place the world had become. Let’s speak life over people!

I found this well written encouragement on the internet and loved it. I could not discover who wrote this. I will be quick to acknowledge the author immediately, if found.

Speak life over people.
Seriously. Be that person.

The one who reminds someone who they are when they’ve forgotten.
The one who prays for them when they don’t have the strength to pray for themselves.
The one who celebrates their wins without making it a competition.
The one who gives grace when it would be easier to judge.
The one who says, “I believe in you,” when everyone else has gone quiet.

This world has enough people pointing out flaws.
Enough gossip.
Enough comparison.
Enough tearing each other apart.

Imagine what could change if we became people who made others feel seen, loved, encouraged, and prayed for.

Your words carry weight.

They can be the reason someone gives up…
or the reason they decide to keep going.

So when you have the choice, speak life.

Be the friend who speaks Jesus into the darkness.
Be the mom who speaks purpose over her children.
Be the stranger who gives the compliment.
Be the person who leaves people a little more hopeful than you found them.

In a world that is already loud with negativity, be a voice God can use. ❤️🤍

Reflections: Can you think of someone in your life that could use some encouragement? Is there someone that’s having a hard time that is in desperate need of some kind words or a welcoming shoulder?
