FGG-126 The Gnat and the Camel

The Gnat and the Came;Do you sometimes feel that Catholics and Christians get hung up in minutia; that we have become the modern day Pharisees that Jesus admonished?  Often, we are so busy being better than others, that we miss the bigger picture. We tend to major in minor subjects! In this podcast, Tony discusses the bigger picture.

Scripture: “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites. You pay tithes of mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier things of the law: judgment and mercy and fidelity. [But] these you should have done, without neglecting the others. Blind guides, who strain out the gnat and swallow the camel!” -Matthew 23:23-24

Make justice your aim: redress the wronged, hear the orphan’s plea, defend the widow.” —Isaiah 1:17

“So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” –James 2:17

Quote: “One filled with joy preaches without preaching.” –Mother Teresa

Reflections: Do you find yourself judging people before you know them?  What should our approach be to people who don’t share our beliefs? What role does mercy play  in our Christian lives?
